Over time the wood burning stove developed a generic appearance almost consistent across nations and cultures the design of which was very much form following function at the most basic level.
Today we work with several Scandinavian Stove makers who have over the last 10 years developed their own visual language for stoves that has become an iconic style synonymous with the wider influence that Scandi - style has had on our domestic culture.
The freestanding stove is still a fairly new feature in Bristish domestic interiors and echoes the desire of Danish design duo Sorig and Jacobsen to design log burning stoves and elevate them to the status of the Danish chair. We stock and sell Hwam stoves, one of the leading exponents of iconic design, just like the classic furniture design of Hans.J Wegner and Arne Jacobsen. Hwam have styled their stoves into the now iconic Scandi - style stove that radiates not only heat but discreet design detailing and extraordinary quality.
This show of simplicity and quality, with visual details that compliment the functionality is hard to a achieve and some how a very Scandinavian touch.
The designers have also worked hard on the flame design too. They view the flames as being like a small painting and the stove is the frame to highlight that painting. Hwam's internal air design is so ingenious the flame pattern and cleanliness of the burn are all due to the unique design of the glass air wash, giving crystal clear flames. Hwam's production is based in Denmark and the two designers agree that this is essential to keep their heritage and the continuing development of the best wood burning stoves.
All these details make HWAM stoves unique - both visually and functionally in true Scandinavian style.
