hygge and hwam

Two words you will soon want to find out more about...

Hygge (pronounced Hoo-ga) is the Danish word for the feeling created by all

things cosy. Essentially, hygge means creating a nice, warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people around you. The warmth of a fire, the glow of candlelight is hygge. Friends and family – that’s hygge too. And let’s not forget the eating and drinking. Perhaps the Danish idea of hygge explains why Danes are often considered the happiest people in the world?

HWAM is one of Denmark's largest producer of architect-designed wood-burning stoves. For 40 years, HWAM has designed and produced modern, high-quality wood-burning stoves and you can now find them in Bideford at The Fire Engine's new showroom.
